TOP BETA TRIAL SUPPORT QUESTIONS {and their solutions!}
- I have tried my username/password a few times and it is not working?
- We have found that if you cut & paste the username or password, it tends to add an additional 'space' character to the end.
Try typing your username and password directly into the log in boxes as opposed to cut & paste. - Are there any Jobs available at Stripe?
- Stripe is currently fully staffed.
We have no immediate need for any Programmers, DJs, On Air Personalities, etc.
When we hire again, we will post all available positions on this web site.
Please DO NOT send unsolicited CV & Resumes. - The Stripe Web Radio just shows "Member stream has expired"
- This message will appear for one of two reasons. If you are participating in the Beta Trial, contact stripe.support@stripe.com as this is an error we can fix quite quickly.
If you are NOT part of the Beta Trial, please understand that Stripe is not 100% open to the general public. Stripe is conducting Invite Only Beta Testing in partnership with www.yooster.com.
Stripe will be having a commercial launch in a matter of weeks!
If you would like to be notified, please ensure your Profile is set for receiving email and/or SMS notifications. - I'm part of the Beta Trial, I have signed up, now what? Nothing is happening.
- If you are part of the Beta Trial, there is a couple of things you can check.
When you log in successfully, you will see your username in the top right corner of the web page (HELLO {username})
Once you have successfully logged in, you can select - LAUNCH RADIO. This will open a new window.
Ensure you don't have any Pop Up Blockers enabled.
Select either High or Low Bandwidth (recommend High if you have Broadband)

Please try the above.
If you experience any other issue do not hesitate to contact us again. - How do use the Stripe Web Radio? I'm clicking and nothing is happening.
- This version of The Stripe Web Radio is about to be replaced, and is acting up a bit.
In this version, we find that using the arrow keys to select your station, then selecting play has the best results.
Other things to check is if you can see a number above the play button (BUFFER: %), it should be around 95-100%. - I'm not hearing any sound from the Stripe Web Radio.
- If you are a taking part in the Beta Trial, there is a few things to check.
Your SoundCard:
Is there any sounds coming from your PC?
If you listen to an mp3 can you hear anything?
Your Browser Settings:
If you go to this site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI
can you hear the audio? - iPhone & Stripe
- Stripe is currently not supported on iPhone, and we can't make any specific response regarding future support of that handset.
The iPhone 3G was only made available to Australian consumers on 11 July 2008, and developers have had extremely limited access to development resources.
I'm sorry that it's probably not the answer you were looking for: but we hope that as an early tester, you have the opportunity to experience Stripe on another 3G handset! - How can I get Stripe on my 3G mobile?
- Getting Stripe up and running on your phone is a snap.
Simply surf to m.stripe.com on your 3G phone.
Use the same login details as the web site.
(Make sure you select some favorite stations on the web site first!)
Enjoy Stripe. - It says "downloading, please wait..."
- This indicates that you need to update your version of Flash. It's very easy to do (and recommended for your security).
So, to check that you are running "Version 9.0.124", go to this site in your web browser:
http://stripe.com/resource/js/swfobject/2-0/
and see what it reports. If it doesn't report back 9.0.124 (or 9,0,124,0), then you can upgrade to the latest version at: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
Close all Stripe.com browser windows and away you go!
Enjoy stripe.com - Adding to favorites on the Stripe Web Radio doesn't work.
- This version of The Stripe Web Radio is about to be replaced, and is acting up a bit.
In this version, we find that using the arrow keys to select your station, then selecting play has the best results.
The best way to add stations to your favorites list is via the What's On Page.
The on your Profile page you can reorder them to your liking! - Buffering or general player intermittent faults - Technical
- We're sorry you've had a bad experience! The Stripe radio can normally be listened to for very, very long periods of time without fault.
Usually, a buffering error is due to your internet connection dropping. However, it can also be caused by your web browser doing other activities which are interrupting the Stripe Radio, which is written in Flash.
So, I would suggest doing a quick "vulnerability scan" just to make sure there's no "nasties" causing a problem.
I guess you run either Windows XP or Windows Vista? If you do, go to the following address in your web browser: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
And perform a free scan. Stripe doesn't make, or strictly endorse, this service, but it can be good to help eliminate issues such as viruses, malware and other "gremlins".
Hopefully this scan comes back all clear. If it finds something, it should walk you through some simple steps to fix/eliminate the nasties. - Are Stripe looking for new Content or Programming ideas?
- Although always curious, we are not on the look-out at this time.
Stripe is currently in Beta Trial testing and as such, are extremely busy.
In addition we already have a Station roll-out plan which will take us to 40 Stations in the next few months. - Does Stripe need any Studio Equipment or gear in any shape, way or form?
- No, thankyou. Stripe currently has all the technology, equipment, software and hardware that we need.
Stripe cannot reply to unsolicited sales queries.
-
GENERAL ENQUIRIES
- Is Stripe compatible with my iPod?
- No!
Stripe is compatible with your iPod jack in your car (with the right connection into your mobile) - but that's it!
An iPod can only play you the songs that you've told it to play you whereas Stripe will surprise you time and time again with great and tailor made content true to the station you're listening to - every time!
Stripe is not a download service. It's live radio to your 3G phone or broadband-connected PC. - Can I pause Stripe?
- No. Stripe is Live radio 24/7 - just delivered in a 21st century way. Just like you can't pause your AM or FM radio, you can't pause Stripe. The music is so good so why would you want to anyway?!!??
- Can I stream via Wifi on my mobile instead of 3G?
- Yes you can!
Generally you will need only to change the streaming server on your media player to accept streams from WiFi instead of 3G. It would be a change of your 'Access Point' on the music player on your mobile. - What if I sell my mobile phone and want to transfer my Stripe service to my new mobile phone?
- Stripe is registered to YOU not your mobile phone. If you do change mobile phones OR you receive a new mobile number, please update your Profile on stripe.com so that we can ensure you the best service possible.
- What if I want Stripe in more than one place, like my mobile and at work?
- There is nothing stopping a Registered Member from listening to Stripe in a hundred different locations.
Just remember that you are limited to one active login at a time.
That means on a PC or on a mobile, just not both at once. - This is just another Internet radio station, isn't it?
- No!
Stripe is real radio, built by our professional radio team, and programmed for your enjoyment. Most "Internet radio" is simply a playlist of files on a server, being sent to you in a loop. Stripe is your quality alternative, broadcast 24x7, and the radio team adapt the programming to suit listener tastes.
Internet radio does not give you the depth of choice, the superior sound quality or Australian content that you enjoy with STRIPE.
Internet radio can be hit and miss and is sometimes produced on a very small budget. In addition, the quality can drop out or be of a lower quality. Stripe spends lots of time and effort into the selection of every song, every element and every bit of content you hear on Stripe.
In addition, our techies have been working around the clock to provide the best quality streams in the world - try plugging Stripe into your home hi-Fi and you'll see what we mean! - Can I listen to Stripe in the car?
- You can listen to Stripe anywhere you can get 3G data connections.
In the car, through a tunnel, as long as you have some 3G connection, anywhere in Australia, you will have access to Stripe. - Is this like normal radio?
- Let's say yes and no! Yes!
Stripe is Live radio, just like AM and FM. We broadcast 24/7 on every one of our stations and what you are hearing is live, produced content.
No! Stripe is like AM or FM radio without the clutter - IE. NO ADS!!! None of the distractions. Each of the stations are true to their format 24/7. - Can I listen to more then one station?
- YES! As a registered member you have access to ALL our stations! Please, listen to them all!
Please let Stripe know your favorites! You can use or FEEDBACK form under the My Stripe section! - Can I advertise on your site?
- Please send any business queries via CONTACT US. Please select Business Enquiry as the category.
- Can I listen to STRIPE on two computers, or on a computer AND my mobile?
- As a registered member you can access STRIPE from ANY computer with a broadband connection AND any 3G mobile phone with a data plan in Australia.

-
TROUBLESHOOTING
- I see the player but no sound is coming out.
- 1st thing to check is if ANY sound is coming out of your PC. Can you play and hear an MP3 that is played from your hard drive? If you cannot, then please fix this issue and try STRIPE again.
Next thing you can try is a youtube video. Can you see and hear one? Our technologies are similar, so if you can see and hear a youtube video, you should be able to hear STRIPE.
Are you trying to access STRIPE from a corporate network? Some IT Departments may have made changes to our PC. Open iTUNES or Microsoft Media Player. Go to File -->Open URL --> and paste this URL: http://sis.au.stripe.com:8000/hitlauncherhigh.aac. If you still cannot hear anything, chances are your IT Department has something blocked. - Okay, it still isn't working.
- 1. Disable all pop-up blockers (the Google toolbar, Norton Internet Security) at the moment you attempt to launch SRTIPE Internet Radio.
2. Upgrade Windows Media Player to the latest version available.
3. If you are using Real Networks- Real Player, disable it for the duration of your listening.
All of these things can potentially interfere with STRIPE Internet Radio.

DATA PLANS
- What is a Data Plan?
- Different mobile phone service providers offer different data connection plans.
These plans may be 'inclusive' of data or they may have separate data packages for voice and data.
Service providers that include data service with your voice service may not have extra charges and just count the connection time against your service plan minutes.
You may need your mobile service provider to unlock or enable data services on your mobile phone in order to use the mobile phone to reach the Internet.
Please contact your mobile service provider for more information. - Does my subscription to Stripe include my data usage?
- No.
Your subscription to Stripe allows access to the Stripe services and nothing more.
Your data usage charges are set by your mobile service provider.
Please contact your mobile service provider for any more information. - How long should my data plan last?
- It depends on what data plan you are on, how much you use the Internet and email on your mobile phone, and a host of other factors.
As a guide, the Stripe service streams at 48 kbps or the equivalent to 25 MB per hour.
If you have a 5 GB monthly data allowance and only listen to Stripe , you have over 200 hours of pure listening pleasure per month or 6 hours per day! - Can I find out how much data I have used so far this month?
- Stripe does not have the ability to track this information as data is used for other things on your mobile phone besides just STRIPE.
Internet, emails and MMS are just some of the examples of applications that use data on a mobile phone.
As a guide, Stripe streams at 48 kbps or the equivalent of 25 MB per hour. - General points about Data Plans
- Stripe has nothing to do with the relationship between you and your mobile service provider.
Stripe is simply a service that can be accessed and has been optimised for 3G networks.
Stripe in no way can influence the rates that mobile service providers charge for data usage.
Stripe streams at ~48kbs which is roughly equal to 25 MB per hour.

See our full STRIPE STATION GUIDE - Requires Adobe Acrobat. - Why does the station I'm listening to keep closing down?
- This is most likely because of network traffic.
If this problem continues or occurs frequently at certain times, please your mobile network service providers. - Why does the station I'm listening to keep re-buffering?
- Re-buffering is something that is experienced with all live internet streaming. Most often, the reasons for this are because of your Internet connection speed (56K or lower) or because of excess Internet traffic. You can try waiting a few minutes or accessing the station later when there might not be as much traffic.
- Why does the Stripe Radio reload every time I touch a button or change a channel?
- Due to the way our media player operates, it is necessary for the player to communicate with the server every time you change what channel you are listening to.
- Why don't I see a song title or artist name in the Stripe Radio?
- Song title and artist name data is married with the stream of music by Stripe. When this data arrives at your PC, it is displayed using an ActiveX control. However, because all Macintosh browsers and PC browsers other than Internet Explorer do not provide ActiveX support for the Windows Media Player, that information cannot be displayed when those browsers are utilized.
